Online Shopping Review: B. Hijaby

Hijaby B. Hijabs

B. Hijaby Hijabs are eclectic and beautiful. Perfect for the hijabi who wants to stand out!

Shopping online for hijabs and modest clothing is always nerve wracking. I always wonder if I will still like the items I order when I actually get them, or if shopping for hijabs online is worth it when there are so many hijab options at easily accessible stores such as Target, H&M, and Forever 21. Then I actually get the package and I think to myself, “Why do I doubt the power of shopping at Muslim owned businesses?”
One thing that I noticed with shopping online for my hijabs or modest clothing is that there is always a personal touch when it comes to what you order. These businesses take time to pack your items nicely and send you a personal note, or slip in just a few extras like hijab pins.

One such online hijab destination is B. Hijaby. The owner of the company, Asima Bhatty strives to provide hijabis an eclectic mix of hijabs that you can’t find anywhere else. In fact, she just launched a new collection of hijabs that you need to check out! Her hijabs go beyond the average hijab. B. Hijaby hijabs are wider than most hijabs; which allows you to create intricate folds, create cool turbans, or just give you more coverage in the front. Let’s be real, we can appreciate coverage in the front when possible!

A distinguishing factor of the hijabs from B. Hijaby is that the patterns on the hijabs are unique and regularly replenish their stock. You can be rest assured that when you wear a hijab from B. Hijaby, that your hijab will not be gracing another hijabi at your local masjid (that is until you share your shopping secret with them!). I actually had an instance where I wore a hijab from Target and my husband could not find me because there were 4 other women wearing the same hijab!

B. Hijaby prints range from elegant ombre prints all the way to eye catching animal print hijabs in fun summer colors. B. Hijaby has the prettiest floral hijabs I have seen. Here is a rundown of the shopping experience:

Online Browsing: B. Hijaby is sold through a Facebook page, so browsing is a bit more challenging than a traditional website. That being said, it is easy to look through all the albums to see all of the hijabs and prints since all of the prints are true to the image. Since they are planning to launch a website, I expect shopping and browsing for hijabs online for this brand will be easier in the near future iA. Also, did I mention the scarves are so affordable? I can see myself buying a ton of hijabs.

Buying Experience: Since this time, the scarves were gifted, I am not able to share how the buying experience was. I will definitely be shopping here though and when I do, I will comment on how the ordering experience was!

Shipping: Shipping is fast and easy. Since B. Hijaby is located in the U.S. you are sure to get your package shipped fast. Expect 3-5 days for delivery. All in all, I highly recommend this hijab shopping destination.

Follow Friday: Cover 33

Cover33

Maryam started Cover33 to provide hijabis an easy way to shop for stylish hijabs.

Salaams my lovelies! Jumah mubarak to you all. As you know, on Fridays, I typically do a Follow Friday post on a specific hijabi that I feel provides not only fashion inspiration, but also inspiration for other qualities such as spirituality, entrepreneurship, etc. I wanted to highlight the a Texan sisters’ company Cover33 whose name is inspired by Surah 33 (Al Ahzab) verse 59 which is the verse where women are encouraged to cover themselves and be modest. The Instagram handle @cover33 features these two sisters from Texas wearing scarves from their line and is always a pleasure to look at since not only do they dress modestly, but they combine colorful elements and provide loads of hijab fashion inspiration.

The main reason that these sisters’ online hijab store is part of my Follow Friday picks is not just because Maryam and Jaserah are beautiful, but I am personally inspired by their ability to see a need for women to buy hijabs online and turn it into a business that is not only growing, but thriving. I personally can’t wait to shop their site and let you know how my own customer experience goes! I am also inspired by their collaboration as sisters. Family bonds are important and I love how these sisters are working together to lift each other up just like my other favorite hijabi sister duo Heba and Farah Jalloul. They serve as examples that sisters need to support and love one another instead of tearing each other down by being competitive.

Make sure to follow @cover33 @mfasadullah and @jaserah for more hijab fashion inspiration! Maryam also has a lovely blog called Sincerely Maryam that you can read too! Check it all out and make sure to let me know what you think!

Online Review and Giveaway! The Taffeta Tree

The Taffeta Tree

The Taffeta Tree sells a variety of stunning hijabs like this beautiful NEVA scarf.

Salaams my lovelies! I hope you are having a wonderful Ramadan so far inshallah. Since it is Ramadan, I am sure a lot of us are spending more time in the masjid or at home donning a hijab even if we don’t wear one normally. Or, if you are a regular hijabi like me, you want to look your best while you are doing extra acts of worship. So what is a girl to do? One quick way to help look your best this Ramadan is to refresh your hijabi wardrobe with a few new hijabs. Since there are not many hijab stores where I live, I tend to resort to buying hijabs online. While some sisters are nervous about online hijabi clothing, I have found most Muslim vendors are not only legitimate, but go above and beyond for their customers.

The online hijab store The Taffeta Tree decided to send me a few scarves to try out. Please note that I will always let you know when items are gifted to me, and I will not review all companies who gift me items unless I absolutely recommend them to my readers. The hijabs that were sent by The Taffeta Tree were not just stunning, but also very comfortable. In fact, I am wearing the NEVA shawl in Ocean Blue as I type this blog post. I was also sent a jersey hijab in Dark Purple, and two vicose hijabs. All of them are light and easy to wear. They are also true to the pictures posted to the site. They ship items using Priority Mail, so if you live in the United States, you can be rest assured to get your package fairly quickly. Make sure to stay up to date by following the Taffeta Tree Facebook page here.

All in all, The Taffeta Tree should be a shopping destination for all hijabis. In fact, I love my scarves so much, I want to give one away to a lucky Hijabi Life reader! If you are on Instagram, make sure to tag @hijabilife in your welcome Ramadan photos and you could win one of the beautiful hijabs sent to me from The Taffeta Tree! I hope you all enjoy your Ramadan and wish you luck in your Ramadan goals and this giveaway!

Online Shopping Review: Hijab-ista

Hijab-ista

If you need hijabi essentials like comfortable hijabs, make sure to shop at Hijab-ista!

I know I have written about Hijab-ista before, but can I just tell you how I ordered a bunch of items from them, and when the package came it felt like Eid! I ordered straight hijab pins, a long sleeve shrug to wear underneath short (or see through sleeves), two hijabs, a hijab cap, and a maxi skirt. I was expecting to like a few of the items, but I loved them all! Even their straight hijab pins are on point (or should I say pointy enough to pierce as many folds as my hijab holds). The hijab cap was way better than the ones I was using. It was all stretchy and comfortable with an elastic banded side to accommodate lots of hair. I used to get headaches from my underscarf caps, but not with this one!

The long sleeved shrugs are PERFECT. If you are a desi like me, you know how most shalwar kameez (traditional Indian outfit) comes with see through long sleeves. If you wear one of these shrugs, then you don’t ever have to worry about your arms showing. It is just sheer (haha no pun intended) genius. I used to attempt to wear those “long sleeves” you can roll up, but I find that if you don’t have stick skinny arms, they roll down and then you still show your upper arms. This one piece shrug solves that issue. So ladies, make sure to snatch a pair up for your wedding season outfits.

I ordered some jersey hijabs from Hijab-ista too. They are true to the colors you see on their site. They feel like the softest t-shirt so they are perfect if you want to wear a hijab that will be comfortable all day long. They are very breathable so I would recommend these for hijabis in hot climates.

My last buy was one of their maxi skirts. Again, its really comfortable because it has an elastic waistband and is made from a nice jersey fabric. If you like the pleated maxi skirt, but you have curves, this is the skirt for you. The pleats are in a nice drapey jersey material so it does not poof out and make you look bigger than you really are. Always a PLUS in my book. What are your favorite Hijab-ista pieces? Let me know what I should try next!

Hijabis: Where to Shop

As a hijabi, I always think its challenging to buy hijabs. Unless you live in a large city with a diverse population (like my lucky London or NYC readers) you probably just have one option in terms of where you can buy your hijabs. In the Bay area, we have a few stores that sell hijabs and hijab pins, but it’s not quite as large of a market like my hometown of New York City.

One the blessings of social media and the internet is that it has allowed hijab vendors from all over the world to offer their goods and services to hijabis that don’t have access to such goods and services locally.

Since ordering online is always a gamble, I will take the risk for my readers and give you the lowdown about the price, shipping time and costs, quality of the items, and overall customer experience.

Hijab-ista

Recently, I ordered a few items from Hijab-ista. I ordered three hijab chains and a hijab.

Price: In terms of cost, this site gives you great quality items for a good price. Even with shipping, it was better for me to order online than to buy the same items locally. Now that is what I call a bargain! I bought 3 hijab chains and a hijab for under $40.

Shipping: The lovely ladies at Hijab-ista were very quick! The minute I ordered my items, I was sent a confirmation email. And it got to my doorstep much faster than other items I order online. I was impressed.

Quality: The quality of the items were good. The hijab pins were especially lovely and I can’t wait to wear them. I bought one of them as a gift for a dear friend and I know she will love it.

Vela

I also ordered a hijab from Vela, a small hijab designer from LA. I ordered the Pleated Chain Scarf.

Price: This site is not for starving student hijabis (unless you have other means of funding haha). I only purchased ONE hijab and with shipping it cost $44! However that being said, designer Marwa Atik uses the best materials possible. This scarf is like a piece of artwork. So if you are looking for a high quality scarf, this is it.

I will say that as a curvy hijabi, I think this hijab line is more suited for smaller chested hijabis since its so sheer and the amount of material covers my neck, but I have to use another scarf to cover my chest properly.

Shipping: Shipping was pretty pricey even for same state transactions. It also took a while to get it. But the hijab was worth the wait!

Quality: The first term that came to mind when I saw my scarf from Vela was luxurious detailing. Each scarf is handmade and you can tell. I loved how the pleats and chain detailing are so different from the hijabs I already own. If you need a scarf for a special occasion, Vela is your place to shop.

I hope this review helps you! Let me know which online hijab stores to shop and review next.
