This winter season is bringing lots of goodies for hijabi fashionistas! Target is doing a Holiday collection with Neiman Marcus to bring accessible items designed by high end designers such as Tory Burch, DVF, Marchesa and others.

I picked my favorite accessories from the entire collection. You can never go wrong with accessories. It is a quick and easy way to make a whole outfit look fresh without having to buy new clothes altogether.

With this collection, you can actually splurge on a designer piece without feeling guilty. I plan to use my savings to donate to charities.

Since I promised myself to start packing my lunch for work, I think the Tory Burch bag will help give me the little push I needed to start doing it!

These and other pieces will be available starting Dec 1, so make sure to hit up your local Target before they are all gone! What is your favorite piece?

Hijabi Obsession: Vests

As a curvy hijabi, I feel it is important to cover the chest area. I typically do this with a combination of cardigans, my hijab, and jackets. But I am getting tired of the same old hijabi fashion tricks. Thankfully, there has been a flood of fashion offerings in the form of vests. Vests are a versatile way to update your wardrobe without having to do a major closet makeover. I am currently loving this new fur vest from Banana Republic’s Anna Karenina capsule collection. It is a nice clever way to keep warm and cover the chest area.

I would pair this vest either with a longer top (to cover your assets in the back!) or with a maxi dress or skirt.

What are your thoughts on vests? Do you love them or hate them? Do you think they are a good option for hijabis?

Hijabi Style Inspiration: Animal Prints

Jumah mubarak my lovelies! I hope that this Friday finds you all in good health and spirits iA. On a side note, I am planning to write about what is going on in Gaza, but it is turning into a long research driven based post that will take some time. So please know, that current events are very much on my mind. In the meantime, I will share another one of my hijabi fashion tips with you.

Animal prints have always been one of those things that I used to hate. It used to conjure up images of older women covered from head to toe in clashing prints (or older women who wanted to appear alluring…think Blanche from Golden Girls). So in my mind, wearing an animal print was something I avoided at all costs because I didn’t want to age myself prematurely. However, with younger more beautiful celebrities toting the look (think Gwen Stefani), I have noticed the trend picking up with the younger hijabi fashionista set. So in an effort to try something new, I am wearing a cheetah print hijab today! As you can tell by the Pinterest image above, wearing an animal print can be very striking, so this is not for the faint of heart!

If animal prints still scare you, take baby steps. Try wearing it as an accessory first. For example, a purse with an animal print, bangle, headband, or even a belt are a nice way to mix things up. If you are feeling a little more bold, try a skirt or shirt in a nice print. For the truly courageous, an animal print hijab is the way to go! I went all out because I saw my girlfriend Bahry rocking this look and I LOVED it. I just had to try it. That is the great thing about having stylish friends. They inspire you to go out of your own comfort zone. So Bahry, this post is for you girlfriend!

How do you wear your animal prints? Let me know and I may feature you in a follow up blog post!

Must Have Ruffle Jacket

Now that winter is fast approaching, hijabi fashionistas have to bundle up! As a Muslim mom, I try to save where I can so that my little baby can get the best items she needs. That means I look for decent fashion finds that are great deals. One of my favorite places to go is Target. They have on trend fashion pieces for way less than the original designer pieces go for.

Ever since I saw Kate Middleton (yes my Anglophile crush) wearing a ruffled Burberry trench coat, I have been meaning to pick up a ruffled jacket. But for some reason, I could not find any this fall season!

Finally, I was strolling through Target and I found this! It was on sale for $35, but I think even at its regular price of $39.99, it’s a steal compared to the Burberry trench I am obsessed with.

I have to warn you to try it on until you find a size that fits since this is a juniors’ line of clothing so they run small! I had to go up two sizes from my normal size!

Now that the weather is getting colder, it’s perfect to keep me warm, but looking like a posh mom! What steals have you found so far?

Luxe Touches For Winter Wear

Fellow hijabi fashionistas always want to keep using a bulk of their wardrobe without having to do a complete rehaul. One way to update your hijab wardrobe is to refresh your fall staples with some luxe touches.

For example, take a maxi dress you already own and top with a cardigan that you use. The new updates may be new heels and a new hijab with pearl detailing.

This winter, it seems like ladylike touches such as pearls and lace can update any look. Think Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O.

There are amazing new offerings all over the place. Look for new cardigans trimmed with lace (Banana Republic has an amazing Anna Karenina inspired collection) and look for lots of pearls. A another trend that carried over from summer is pastels. I stuck with an orange creamsicle hijab for this outfit of the day.

While this look may be daring for some, try taming it with flats. Also, I make sure I wear a long sleeved shirt underneath my maxi dress and cardigan so there are no wardrobe malfunctions!

If you are less adventurous, try stacking pearl trimmed bangles or rings. Or even adding a lace overlay (or underscarf) on your hijab. One easy update I did was wearing a lace headband under my hijab with just a bit peeking through.

What do you plan to wear this winter?
