Follow Friday: Mora_Hijabi

Monira Uddin

Monira Uddin translates hijab trends with a modern mom twist.

Salaams my lovelies! I hope that you are doing well inshallah. It has been ages since I have done a Follow Friday, but this one is super special to me. It is a Follow Friday on my big sister Monira Uddin! I love all my hijabi fashionistas on Instagram, but it has been rather challenging to find popular Instagrammer hijabis that are petite and curvy. That is why I love following my big sister @Mora_Hijabi. She is athletic and a mom so she takes modest fashion trends and is able to translate in a more every woman way for me. Just look at her rocking a fur vest with that plaid shirt. I will admit that I ran to Target to buy a vest because I love copying my big sister.

She is the hijabi next door that you would want to be friends with and have chai with. She also knows how to throw some amazing Pinterest worthy parties. We all know that being a Muslim mom who works can be a juggling act, so she recently launched her own blog about being a working hijabi mama over 35. Check out her blog here.

She is an amazing person inside and out. I am so lucky to have had a big sister like her to look up to and now I get to share her talents with all of you. Let me know what you think. Do you have a big sister that you just love? Let me know in the comments below.

Follow Friday: Imane Asry (Fashion With Faith)

Fashion With Faith

Imane Asry’s unique Swedish take on hijab is refreshing.

Salaams my lovelies! Jumah mubarak to you all! This is the last Friday of Ramadan this year which always makes me a little sad since there are countless blessings on days like today but they are gone before you know it. Let’s make this Friday count inshallah! As you know, I typically do a Follow Friday post on my favorite Instagram accounts. Today, I would like to introduce you to Sweden’s Iman Asry, aka Fashion With Faith (@fashionwithfaith). Why do I love Imane so much? She is definitely not a hijabi who takes herself too seriously. She posts amazing photos of her funky style, yet she also posts real life pictures of her time with friends and family. Did I mention she has a wicked sense of humor too? Her silly faces pictures are just as interesting to me as her “high fashion” pictures on her account. She makes being a stylish hijabi that much more accessible to regular hijabis like me. That is not to say she isn’t stunning. I mean look at her pictures! She has a fresh faced beauty that is refreshing to look at.  It is hard to find someone who does not resemble any one else in the hijabi vlogger world, but Imane is able to stand out with her mix of vintage with high fashion pieces.

She also makes me realize I have a wealth of stylish options in my closet already. With her styling, you can certainly come up with outfit combinations that you may have forgotten about. Her recent pictures reminded me I can reuse my Doc Martens from the 1990s with stripes versus the flowers I had paired it with in the past. Who says you can’t bring back fads?

Make sure to check her out on Instagram @fashionwithfaith and let me know what you think!

Follow Friday: Aisha Liinaa

Salaam my lovelies! Jumuah mubarak to you all. It’s been a hectic week, but expect a few more exciting blog posts in the next few days. I recently did a guest blog post for the amazing blog Haute Hijab on how hijabis seem to be bullying each other on social media platforms, and I plan to do a very special Meet the Brand blog post on Sixteenrscarves soon inshallah. Designer Nancy Hoque is just amazing woman and I can’t wait to share her insights on hijabi fashion, style, and wardrobe inspiration.

Okay, now that you know some of my updates, I wanted to share a very cute vlogger and Instagrammer with you. Her name is Aisha Liinaa, and she does the cutest hijab tutorials that are not only clearer than most, but also very funny. I happen to think she is a dead ringer for Amenakin from Pearl Daisy, but she does have her own unique sense of style which is why I think she warrants a “one to watch” status in my book. She is also mindful of selecting very accessible pieces and pulling them together in very beautiful outfits. She reminds me of the cute hijabi next door look with a dose of ethnic chic. Hailing from the UK, she even has that adorable British accent. Is it me, or does it seem like all the stylish hijabis are from the UK? I am from the U.S. so I may have to do some digging to find a cute American hijabi.

Well, make sure to check out Aisha Liinaa this week and follow her on Instagram for cute makeup and hijab tips @aishaliinaa.

Note to self: Feature an American hijabi for next Friday!

Follow Friday: Yaz the Spaz

Yaz the Spaz

Yaz the Spaz is an American vlogger who helps regular hijabis learn new hijabi styles.

This post is late, and for that I apologize! I started it on Friday, but it needed time and some love. I hope you like it regardless!

Salaam my lovelies! Jumah mubarak to you all! Friday is when I do my Follow Friday post, which features a hijabi with amazing style on Instagram. Today’s post features one of my favorite vloggers: Yaz the Spaz! For those of you who don’t know, Yaz the Spaz (Yasemin Kanar) is a popular YouTube hijabi. She started her channel with hijabi tutorials but has expanded to other social media channels as well. She has an Instagram account @yazthespaz89 that follows her on those social media journeys and is just as fun and bubbly as she is.

Her Instagram account not only features her daily hijabi style, it also features her friends and family. Hijabis can get a sneak peek at Yaz the Spaz’ baby sister Aysun Kanar’s style, her friends, and even her mom who she affectionately calls Momma Spaz. Her account also serves as fitness inspiration for hijabis. She features her healthy breakfasts, and what she does to work out and maintain her healthy physique. For my readers of mixed heritage, you will be glad to see that Yaz the Spaz embraces both her Cuban and her Turkish roots often. It shows us all the beauty in the diversity of our deen. Make sure to check out Yaz the Spaz and let me know what you think!

Follow Friday: Amenakin

Vlogger Amena Khan aka Amenakin

Vlogger Amena Khan aka Amenakin

Salaams my lovely readers and jumah mubarak to you all! As you know, I try to do a regular post every Friday about a fabulous Instagrammer that I love to follow. This Friday, I wanted to give a special shout out to one of my favorite vloggers: Amenakin. For those of you who don’t know, Amena Khan is a YouTube vlogger who goes by the handle Amenakin. Her YouTube hijab tutorials have won over the hearts of many hijabis and helped spawn the online hijab store Pearl Daisy. She now does lifestyle vlogs about her life as a vlogger as well as makeup tutorials.

One of the reasons I love Amenakin so much is that she is just so sweet mashallah. She always seems upbeat, happy, and most of all, she tries to encourage and interact with all of her fans. I don’t think I have come across a vlogger who seems so down to earth and approachable. I only hope that I can meet her one day soon inshallah and get one of those famous Amenakin hugs! Also, her hijab tutorials have made me hate the pashmina hijab look on me a little less and has given me ideas on how to dress up a little nicer for special occasions.

Make sure to follow her @pearldaisyltd on Instagram. Also, for more pics of my own, follow me @hijabilife :).

Nicole Warne

Gary Pepper Girl Nicole Warne has an arresting array of photos on Instagram

Jumah mubarak my lovelies! I hope you are all having an amazing Friday inshallah. I typically share Follow Friday on a Muslim on Instagram who captures my attention. However, given the amazingly beautiful photographs on Nicole Warne’s Instagram, I had to share her with you. Nicole Warne is the founder of an online vintage store called Gary Pepper. She has a visual diary of her travels as an online fashionista. It mixes colors and nature in a way that can be translated for any hijabi who wants to brighten up her look. Her easy breezy style is easy to draw from and accessible. You can find pieces inspired by her in your local Forever 21, but it is how she mixes her pieces that makes her a knockout.

I love being swept away on her travels through her native Australia and her treks to fashion weeks all over the globe. You can find her on Instagram at garypeppergirl. Make sure to follow her for inspiration on fashion, travels, and just plain beautiful photography.
